STIRRING BOOK "ALL BUT ME AND THEE" BATTLE FATIGUE IN WWII
"PSYCHIATRY AT THE FOX-HOLE LEVEL" MARSHALL COMMISIONED
This work was put into action due to a study commissioned by George C. Marshall, the Chief of Staff for the US Army. It explores and explains in easy to understand examples that the author, a Brigadier General uncovered while analyzing a problem the military faced in 1943. And that was that nearly as many people were being discharged for unfitness for duty at a Psychological level in the Spring of 1943, as were being inducted!

It is autographed by the author to the head of the Infantry Journal Press as a first edition in November of 1946.

I was able to learn a lot about this issue, and the facts surrounding the chain of events that accompanies even the heartiest of combat veterans who crumble in one form or another after prolonged exposure to violent combat. It is written by a layman to the subject, but an educated man, to be understood by a layman to the subject.

The author traveled throughout the theatre garnering evidence and examples through live interviews in the front-lines, as well as the Neuropsychiatry wards that were clogged with men, some having never even witnessed combat. He explains in simple terms how we all have pre-set dispositions and tolerances to stress, which enhance our disposition to "crack" under pressure. War is definitely that!

Format is 5.75 x 8.5 inches, by 215 pages, complete, no rancid smells. No issued. Original dust jacket (reinforced over the years) and no problems. You will learn more about basic human psychology in this book than in many others. It should be a must for understanding the current conflict, as well as all wars and the trauma that approaches every soldier in harm's way.
