VET CAPTURED 1942 MINT"XL" FINE SS OBERFUHRER FUR CAP!
OVERLY PLUSH! SABLE BROWN FUR AS SOFT AS IT WAS IN 1942
This came from the family of the 2003 deceased Roy Marsh, an 83rd Infantry Division soldier in the 330th Infantry Regiment, and we all know they fought the Fallschirmjagers in Normandy. Then marched into the German southern flank at full steam in 1944.

They rolled over every unit in their path and the SS were taken right along with every other form of resistance. The guy had a slew of items from an OberGrupenFuhrer, collar tabs, bullion eagles and more. There were other SS items as well. This is the EXACT same type of winter cap being worn in the famous picture of Sepp Dietrich. I have a photo of one of the vet's unit members wearing what has to be this cap, with an M-1 in hand and grinning ear to ear (not for sale here - just the cap). They posed with a lot of German stuff: HJ sports shirts, caps with absurd things like Flak Badges on the fronts, etc - making poses like Hitler in a flamboyant speech or what-not. Real clowns - but - Hey, they earned the bragging rights.

Here we have a beautiful fur masterpiece in pristine shape and is not coming out in tufts. Been footlocker kept. I've worn this shoveling snow and always get a comment from some passer by - "love the hat!"

Field Grey wool body and excellent, brown russet color rabbit fur. The strings are intact and the button is the original.

These caps are hard to find in mint condition Grey quilted liner with inside purple ink stamped, 1942, Weiner Mutzen Lago 5.

Now, I measured this cap and it is a bit bigger than a 7 & 1/2, easy, even though it is marked as a 57. I wear a 7 and 3/4 and it is a bit tight, but not much. A non-upgradeable hat in such great shape that it was surely box kept all these years. No defects at all and accurately described.

I took the pins off once, just for these images. The prongs are the proper flat type. Nice markings. Guaranteed original period issue cap and pins.

This is no fantasy piece, but the genuine thing!

And what a size! By the way, the wearing vet photo is NOT part of this offering. It is part of a larger photo collection that needs to stay intact.
